Opening, Managing, and Closing Your Microsoft Outlook Mailbox |

|
Steps: |
|
1. Locate
the Outlook icon on your desktop, place your cursor on it, and double-click
with your left mouse button. |
|
2. Expand
all folders and subfolders in the Outlook mailbox by clicking with the left
mouse button on the “+” beside
each folder. |
|
3. Expand
all folders and subfolders in your Outlook Personal Folders by clicking with
the left mouse button on the “+”
beside each folder. |
|
4. Insure that you have all
folders expanded: No “+” displayed. |
|
5. Using the right mouse
button, click on the “Personal Folders”
icon. |
|
6. Select “New Folder” with the left mouse button. |
|
7. Enter the name “TEST 1” for your new folder. |
|
8. Click on the OK with the left mouse button. |
|
9. Using the right mouse
button, click on the “Personal Folders”
icon. |
|
10. Select “New Folder” by putting your cursor on
the “New Folder” icon. |
|
11. Enter the name “TEST 2” for your new folder. |
|
12. Click on the “OK” with the left mouse button. |
|
13 Begin a drag and drop email move by placing
your cursor on an item in your “Inbox”. |
|
14. Depress the left mouse
button – Do not release it. 15. Drag the cursor over to
the “TEST 1” folder you created in
your personal folders. |
|
16. Release the left mouse
button. Your mail moves from the Inbox of
your mailbox to the “TEST 1” folder
of your Personal Folders |
|
17. Using the ‘drag and
drop method’ indicated above select email items or folders in your mailbox “Inbox” folder. Move them to the “TEST 1” folder in your Outlook
Personal Folders. Wait for the copy to complete. |

18. Using the ‘drag and
drop method’ select remaining email items or folders in your mailbox Inbox folder and move them to the “TEST 1” folder in your Outlook
Personal Folders. Wait for the copy to complete. |

19. Using the ‘drag and
drop method’ select email items or folders in your mailbox Sent Items folder and move them to the
“TEST 2” folder in your Outlook
Personal Folders. Wait for the copy to complete. |

20. Using the ‘drag and
drop method’ select remaining email items or folders in your mailbox Sent Items folder and move them to the
“TEST 2” folder in your Outlook
Personal Folders. Wait for the copy to complete. |

21. Recall that by using
Steps 5 and 6, new folders under your Personal folders can be created and
given names of your choice. Instead of using specific names for these folders
as we did (TEST 1 & TEST 2), you can give them any name you desire. |

22. Double Click on the
Outlook icon in the top left corner of your screen to close out of the
Outlook email application. |
|
23. When you are asked if
you want to delete items in your “Deleted
Items” folder answer “Yes”. Your Deleted Items Folder will contain mail items
you manually deleted from other folders. |
